Technical Consultant

 

responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain logical information models (in UML),  XML schemas (using XSD ), and web service description (using WSDL, REST, JSON and other relevant standards) in accordance with Energistics and other industry standards development practices.
  • Assist in the deployment of these specifications to the member communities in version control system (currently using Subversion) and as a library of web-addressable artifacts. 
  • Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation
  • Facilitate technical discussions related to specifications development/maintenance
  • Assist with development and administration of the Energistics Certification Program
  • Provide programming support as needed for internal projects and on a limited basis to support adoption

Qualifications
 

Experience:

  • 5+ years experience with XML and web services development.
  • Experience with one or more domain areas in the upstream oil & gas industry (preferably drilling, production and/or reservoir)
  • Hands-on experience testing systems against established sets of requirements, collected data from those tests, and developing suggestions for changes to ensure compliance with requirements• Technical architecture – must have a general knowledge of major application server ‘stacks’ for web service development, primarily Microsoft .NET/WCF and Java J2EE.
  • Database management experience
  • Experience developing and implementing standards based best practices
  • Data modeling experience
  • Must be familiar with version control systems in general.  Experience with Subversion source control system preferred.
  • UML experience including methodology to use UML to meet requirements
  • Experience working with industry information exchange standards,   especially oil and gas related standards such as MIMOSA, Open O&M, OPC, PPDM would be preferred.
  • Programming experience  preferred

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • A demonstrated history of documenting solutions and contributing to an established knowledgebase application/system.

Education, Degrees, Certification

 

BS Degree in Computer Science or related discipline or 10 years related experience.
