Overview of the Certification Process
Currently certification is only available for WITSML v1.3 or higher.
Certification is expected to be made available for other Energistics standards, based on maturity of the standard and demand for certification.
The current program is a baseline, self-certification process with these main steps:
1. Vendor completes a certification form and submits it to Energistics, for each product to be certified. Product Certification Form,
2. Energistics posts the form on the Energistics website for a six-month public comment period. During the six-month public comment period:
- Qualified industry people are free to comment on the information contained on the form, raise issues, and challenge the information. Please direct all comments or challenges directly to the vendor.
- The vendor product is considered “pre-certified.”
3. After the six-month review period—if no issues are identified or if identified issues are resolved satisfactorily—the product is considered certified. The vendor and Energistics sign the certified license agreement giving the vendor the right to use the Energistics certified product logo on product packaging and marketing materials.
4. If certified products are changed, updated or discontinued, the vendor must notify Energistics within 60 days and update certification forms.
Details of the certification process, terms, conditions and fees are described in the Certified Product License Agreement for Energistics standards.
